VINTAGE TEXTILES

Vintage textiles love me. They jump into my hands whenever they can. Old yoyo pillows, quilts, rugs, and fabrics are tucked away here and there. This piece said something to me; kids, toys, horses, chickens, a dog - gathered at a farm (Marburger Farm to be exact many years ago by my friend Maggie). I don't know if it was used as a rug or wall hanging in its day. Made of wool, it has become more fragile through the years so I decided to keep it off the floor. Approximately 5' x 3', I'm not sure where it would fit on the wall so on the dining room table as a runner it goes. I have another one somewhere with kittens and dogs on it. Guess I'll have to go look for it.

Oh I love it! I had a small rug (3'x2') that was a gift, I didn't want to walk on it, so I made a backing for it and hung it.
I think your piece would be nice either way.

How lovely, I would use it as a hanging.
Sometimes I've used similar on my sideboard but then I didn't want anything on top of it.
There's a lot of work in that rug, thanks for showing it to us.
Hugs,
Jo

Wouldn't it look wonderful on a table with a fall tableau? I love it. I have a wonderful old hooked rug that I treat as art...don't want any muddy feet on it, for sure! Whatever you decide to do with it, I'm sure it will be wonderful. Your home must be a treasure trove of delights for the eyes!

I too have one with the puppies and kittens, also one with zebras and one with a leopard...I love them too. I lay them across my stools and chair backs for an exotic look.

Boy, your goodies looked so good, I'm headin' to the Good Earth Restaurant down the highway for a piece of pie and a cup of java...join me will ya!!!

I love old fabrics too, especially those heavy, thick linens.
