Ball Canning Jars

It's the 100th anniversary of Ball and they have re-released their blue glass jars.  Just for a little while though.  Better get them if you see them, as they aren't making many.  I found mine at Target.

Just a little factoid of Ball history.  Mr. Ball was a devout Christian and always tithed 10% of his earnings to the church.  When the great quake of San Francisco occurred in the early 1900's, everything in the city was leveled except for the Ball factory.
That bit of information came from Mr. Paul Harvey, a fellow Oklahoman, in his radio show, The Rest of the Story.

I just love the Ball canning jars, especially the colored ones.
They have so many uses, I shall have to tell my granddaughter about the 100th anniversary edition, since she is planning to use them in her wedding as part of the decorations on the tables.
Interesting information about the Ball factory and it's founder.

Thanks for the tips on the blue jars...they would have so many uses and I had no idea they ever made them. I am going directly to my local Target this morning!

Donna - I have some original ones I still can in...they came from my great uncle's and my Grandma. Such an interesting story - miss Paul Harvey. Used to listen to him with my old boss every morning before we started work. Have a wonderful week-end.

I've got the old aqua ones, but these blues are beauts. I really liked Paul Harvey, I think his son took over, didn't he?

Jeri, I believe he did. I heard him once, filling in for his Dad, and he sounded just like him.
