New Read

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  With all of the error messages I am receiving and no reading list for the past month, I am hoping I can still publish a new post on this blog.  I fully expect to wake up one morning and find that my blog doesn't exist.
I did find a new book to read and will begin it tonight. I'll let you know if I think it's worth the money.

PS ~ I'm about half way through the book and I can tell you that the two protagonists are train wrecks.  I guess it is good if you go by the standards of money made and No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.  I didn't know about this when I bought it.  Saw the author on TV this morning and she said this was her fourth novel.  She wanted it to be in the vein of Hitchcock.  All I'm going to say is to each his own... and I'm not going to go by the NY Times bestseller list any time soon.

PS ~ I wish I had my money back.

  1. Donna,

I've missed you---hope you and all of yours (including Sister0 are staying warm and well. This book has been suggested to me twice, and now you've mentioned it, so I'll have to trust Third Time's Charm, and NOOK it soon.

I had that "disappearing blog" dream for a couple of years, and just received the last book of 2014---I did it by years, and at least I have the text and pictures to hold in my hands. They did a fantastic job---one of those online printing services.

    1. You too Rachel. I am missing all of you badly. I can hit on the few I've listed on the right (I am so lazy and now wish I'd have put all the ones that I follow there) but those are the only ones. Sister is great and chases the armadillo that comes digging in the yard every night. It has gone down to the teens tonight and will be 70 this weekend. Only in Oklahoma. And, my third grandchild, Penny, will be here any day. I love that you made your blog into a book. I need to know more. I didn't know you could do that. Hopefully, my blog will get right soon.

    2. I just wrote a long comment about my good experience with blog2print, with links and little things I'd done about my own books, and just idiotically let the whole comment delete (when I went to LAWN TEA to get you this link to how my newest book looks):

      http://lawntea.blogspot.com/2015/01/preserving-past.html

I did learn the hard way to double-check the dates of FROM January 1, 2013 to December 31 2013, for somehow I got another copy of 2012, inside the 2013 cover. That was the only slip-up and it was my own error.

It was easy, just following prompts, and I'm SO pleased with all these bright colorful books. I do wish that I'd chosen "medium" for the pictures from the beginning , and the feature that puts them right with their captions or the paragraphs about them, but I was mostly going for getting the words into a hard copy, before they wisped away into the blog ether.

This copy has MEDIUM, and is really excellent quality---much heavier and sturdier than a magazine type book.

I'd be glad to offer any little hints I discovered along the way, and share the excitement of knowing it's on its way---even the tracking from their post office to mine was a fun experience.

  2. Glad to see you were able to post. In case I lose my google connect/friend follow ability or list I ALSO follow fav blogs on bloglovin.com so blogs I like are listed for me in two separate places.

    1. This is great news Terra. Now, if I can only remember which ones I follow. Many don't publish anymore so that would be a good way to edit my list. Oh, I hope I can remember some of them.

    1. Strange Monique. I am taking Terra's route and entering the blogs I can remember to Bloglovin so I'll have another place I can find them. Trouble is, I can't remember all the ones I follow. But, it will be good in the end, because I need to edit them (which it won't let me do) since many of them don't publish anymore. I hope you like All The Things You Cannot See. It isn't a romance and is during wartime, but I loved his writing and storytelling and just enjoyed the book.

And----I've been meaning to ask, and a phone call from DD yesterday kindled a covet: They were making salted caramel sauce, and it made me think I've long wanted your recipe for the salted caramel peach cake if you can steer me to it, or post the recipe?

    1. So glad you left your address. Have missed your posts. I will go look for that recipe today. I used white peaches because I had them in the freezer, but I must admit, while flavorful, they weren't firm enough for this recipe. I think apples, pineapples, or other firmer fruit would work better.

    2. Rachel, did you get the recipe? I'm wondering if my comments are getting through.

    3. I certainly did, loud and clear, in the comments section. I'm thinking of using it as a post soon, as this is the season for stone fruits, or ones that you don't have to buy fresh from the store. We used to have several white peach trees, and how I miss those, with their pale blush cheeks and the depth of PEACH in a freezer of ice cream made right out in the orchard..

I'm also thinking of doing it in a black skillet, just because.

Thank you SO muich for all that retrieving and typing!

  7. The cover - if one might judge - is very appealing!!!
Was wondering how it was going over here! Donna, if you haven't already done it you should download your blog. It is easy to do and you will minimize any blackhole mishaps in the sometimes strange land of internet.

    1. Well, I started it last night and I'm not sure what to think yet. I read only at night when I get in bed, so the books seem to take me longer that way. I am so inept at technology Gesbi. Would I download my blog on one of those memory sticks. I'm not sure how to do it, but I do fear losing this blog. Each day brings a new problem. Now my feedjit gadget on the right side of my blog doesn't work as well as many other things. Thanks for the tip.

    1. Thank you so much Gesbi. I've decided the only way to deal with this messed up blog is with help from my blogging community. I have done everything I can do on my end and it just keeps getting worse, so I really appreciate your help.

    2. I did download it Gesbi and again thank you so much for the info. Did your blog download appear all in script or html coding? Just wondered as mine did.
