Penny Lane

What is love?  Why, it's Penny Lane.  I have a new grand child.  She is an exact replica of her Dad at this stage.  And she is so loved.

My son says he and Penny couldn't stop crying at her birth.  Her Dad, Parker, and her mother, Katie, are so in love with her.

At 7.8 lbs, with a head full of black hair, she is perfection.  Mewls like a little kitten.  She is two days old now.  Meanwhile back, I had to return home to the farm, but I told her Dad this morning to give her a kiss for me.  Seems like only yesterday...

PS ~ And I've been singing Penny Lane for two days straight.

Oh, Donna!!

Well, we're just FULL of musical references today, aren't we??

What a beautiful baby---so serene and perfect---that lovely smooth face and shining coif---she's GORGEOUS. I know it was hard to tear yourself away, but I give thanks every day that we have all these lovely means of communication now. I think of our own Mothers, awaiting a letter, and hoping a little Kodak Moment will fall out, and our Grandmothers! They were the reason Olan Mills kept full coffers, for I don't think we even owned a camera til I was about twelve.

They talk about Mommies having a GLOW when they're pregnant---I'd say that a big old bearded DADDY in a Turtles shirt, melted into a puddle over a new little girl---now THERE's a thing of beauty. Just wait til he's tucking those manly knees beneath a tiny table, drinking P'tend tea from a wee cup---your heart will stretch a mile.

Congratulations to you ALL. Well done and best wishes,

rachel---who NOW has a new song running through her head, thank goodness. I've been humming Procul Harum every time I looked at my sidebar for a week.

Here is the story on how Penny Lane got her name. I was always telling my kids to look on the ground for pennies when they were little. Parker was the only one that did and now, he can spot a coin across the parking lots. He is in graduate school, working on his Ph.D. in clinical psychology, and to help out, he crafts necklaces out of old indian head pennies to sell on ebay. He also has a big indian head penny tattoo. So, the name Penny came naturally, but when everyone heard what her name was going to be, they all said, oh, Penny Lane, so they thought well that will have to be her middle name. So that's the story of Penny Lane's name. She is a darling. My son says he just can't quit looking at her. It is so sweet and I know he is going to be a great father.

Thank you Jeri. I would love to see how your little one would be dressed and the toys you make for it. I'm sure there would be many books too. She smells so good and when she looks around it is so cute.

Oh my stars, I'm singing with you. Gorgeous doesn't even begin. I believe being allowed the blessing of seeing our children holding their children is one of the rewards for a job well done. Congratulations to all of y'all. And I repeat...gorgeous, simply gorgeous.
