My realtor just texted me and said, "it's a done deal." I am relieved beyond words (but still want that check in my grubby little hand first.) Now, on to my new cottage, which I am never leaving. The farm will have to wait for another day. I'm thinking of hiring an estate sale service.
See the above? I have gallons of them. One reason moving is nearly an impossibility for me. I have too many collections, er, stuff I don't need, but love. I'm going to try and go the minimalist route in my new cottage - and we'll see just how long that will last. I need new furniture and there seems to be a lot of mid-century modern out there, but I am not going for the plexiglass furniture as I think it will be out by next year. Just want it comfortable. I have already decorated the powder room in my mind - in an Oscar de la Renta wallpaper, but it says only to the trade, so I'll have to figure that out. I want to do wood floors and have to paint over some red walls. I may end up with a few nice lawn chairs scattered about. Oh well.

This is so good. An estate sale service to clear the farm may be better than you think. They will organize, categorize, assess, evaluate, do all the backbreaking work and even get rid of the leftovers. I think that's win-win-win.

I think you are right Joanne. 33 years' worth of stuff. Too much to contemplate. I just wish I had all the money I spent on all that stuff. Guess I'm getting old as just a few years ago I would have still been accumulating. Youngsters, take heed. The things you thought you had to have one time, will be the stuff you are trying to get rid of in another time.

Itis always a relief when things finally sort themselves out - moving house is always a stressful time. Hope everything goes well.
Donna, grand to hear that the closing has closed! What a huge relief for you after that last minute surprise hiccup.
Now, let you mind turn at its own chosen pace towards your cottage. it sounds as if the earlier comments about having the assistance of a professional estate sale service might also be a way simplify "certain aspects" of the move.

I am so relieved. I wish I wasn't such a worrier (anxiety), but I am what I am. I can't wait to get in there and decorate/edit. It is just a jewel box right now. I am interested to see what it looks like this winter.
It is such a relief Weaver. Besides the eventual sale of the farm, I am never moving again. I know people who move every few years and I just can't imagine it.
Thank you Frances. Since I never move, I had never heard of a closing not happening on the scheduled day. I was worried sick that I was going to have to go through the whole process again. So relieved I didn't. I am looking forward to getting in the new house. I've only been there three times and it is hard to remember the layout and things like that. Yes, I have many collections and love most all of them. I read one time that a few rolling pins look nice displayed, but 100 rolling pins do not. I've remembered that when collecting. And, some of those buttons are small works of art. Type in buttons in the upper corner of blog and see if any pop up.
