She's In The House

The last few flowers and roses are in bloom.  For a couple of days that is, before a hard freeze arrives. I've put most of the plants and the outside of the house to bed for the winter.

I finished unpacking yesterday.  Got a few things hung on the walls, but mostly still have it to do.  I had to return to the farm, but will pack some more things to take to the city house.

We will celebrate our first Thanksgiving next week at the city house.  Though I will have to make most of the food at the farm and transport it to the city, we will have a wonderful time.  The kids and grandkids love the new house, as do I.  I still haven't figured out how to do many of the switches, knobs etc. I keep having to call the former owner to ask how to do things.  The shower in the master bath looks like something out of Star Trek.  Who needs seven shower heads? We don't have things like that at the farm.

And, I have never cooked on an electric cooktop.  I'm thinking burned! Thanksgiving, here we come.

I see many happy times spent there....
It's a very pretty house, not so much to take care of, and will give you the time to spend with those precious grandchildren.
Lovely Donna.

Thank you my dear Jo. Wish me luck on the meal; I hope I don't burn it up. They just phoned this morning that my bed will be delivered next week so I'll have t go up earlier than planned. My husband will be on his annual ten day hunt so once again, it'll just be me taking care of both places. Bet you didn't know I could be two places at once.

Thank you Monique. Yes, the entire back of the house has tall windows all looking out to Silver Lake. It is the part of the house that sold me on it. Though all the leaves and flowers will be gone, the winter view should be beautiful too. Mrs. Silver had it decorated very formally and I am trying to make it not so formal. I wonder if that can be done. The farm is very eclectic with lots of antiques and folk art. Much of it doesn't go in this new house. I did order a baby blue modern sofa the other day. Can't wait to see it in the welcoming room (it used to be Mrs. Silver's formal dining room.)

Thank you Jaqueline. They left many concrete garden urns and figurines. I have many too so I will have to edit, lest I end up with figurine gardens.

You're welcome Karena and thank you. The inside (and the view out back) are the best part of this house.

It does look very nice and content yourself that one day all the toing and froing will be done and you will be well and truly settled in and able to work everything.

I see you commenting on some of the blogs I read.
Congratulations on winning over at Elizabeth's blog.
Just read through some of your post. I knew you were moving to a "city house" but I too would have bought you new home because of the view.
That is what I did, my new home is nothing like what I wanted but the wall of huge windows in the back looking out to the mountains sold me.
I hope your husband is feeling better.
Happy Thanksgiving in your new home.

cheers, parsnip

Nice to meet you Parsnip. I too have seen you on other blogs. I am excited for the win as the website has some neat things. My husband is better, thank you and has gained ten pounds. It is funny about the house thing; it isn't anything like I had imagined and many things I didn't want, but I love it so and am thankful to have found it.

It is a sweet-looking house. Storybook, like Monique said. I'm glad to hear your husband's regained some weight too.
