Follow Me

I have been reading others' blogs that I follow and they are reporting losing followers.  Must be something going on as last night, I lost five followers.  Didn't like my last Gather post?  I don't think that would offend anyone nor bore them silly.

Seems the developers at Blogger are rewriting the followers gadget.  If your followers are not following through the Google Friend Connect Gadget, they are gone.

I understand little of blogging, even after more than 600 posts.  So, let me just give you a link to someone's blog who can explain this much better than I ever could.  Hope this works.  Miss Smarty Pants I am not.

  1. I must check that. I rarely look at my followers but I have noticed that sometimes
my comments do not get posted.

    1. Oh Parsnip, I have had so many problems with blogger. I can only cross my fingers. Lost another follower last night. Trivial, yes, but I don't want to post for just myself.

  2. I never check how many followers I have - I just enjoy reading the comments of those who are kind enough to contact me.

    1. Me too Pat, but I don't have the numbers to lose many or I might just be talking to myself.

  3. Thanks to the Friend Connect and Google+which is forced on us for the sake of revenue, I am now being contacted by complete strangers who withhold their profiles. I don't like it, but I suppose Google has to pay their .5% UK taxes somehow.

    1. I don't know why they change things up, but I'm not tech savvy enough to keep up. Cruzr knows everything about blogger, but I sill can't grasp it all.

    1. Jacqueline, that is astounding. Has to be the new rewrites or else they are just missing out on a beautiful, fun blog. I don't like it when they change things as I can barely do it the old way.

  5. Thank you, Donna, for you post and the link. I will have a click over there.

I also thank the previous commenters here who've had similar experiences to my own.

The photograph is splendid. I immediately thought that image could give rise to a wonderful children's toy or some sort.

    1. It is the modern day pen pals Monique. Nitecruzr has helped me when my blog wouldn't work, but I must admit, I can't follow most of the instructions. He knows it all.

  7. Dear Donna I lost seven followers too. I am not concerned- figure whoever wants to visit and follow great- whoever doesn't that is okay too. Besides lots of people sign up to follow and may only visit once and never come back again. Thanks though for the link. Will check it out. Hugs!

    1. I had lots of problems with my blog for a couple of months and used Nitecruzr, but he knows so much, I have trouble following it. I need grammar school instructions when it comes to computers. Some of us don't have kids at home any more to help us and need a picture.

  8. Donna, Yes, I do feel better after reading this, I thought I was paying the price for dropping blogs. How stupid is Blogger and what a dis-service they are doing to all of us.

  9. I took off the followers gadget some while back but I never had that many to begin with. Somewhere I learned that page views are another metric to use when seeing if your blogs has readers.

    1. I did that too Amanda, but had a few asking how to follow me, so I put it back on. I haven't had many followers either. One commented once about being surprised how few I had. Ouch!

  10. Blogger wants the followers using Friend Connect to have a Google account. If they don't have a google account, they get dropped from your followers. I have lost almost 100 followers already. Here is some more info:

    1. They'll find their way back Michelle. Unless they are like me and can't figure out how to. One of my followers said today she has lost 300. It is daunting. It may take awhile, but then they'll remember. I really miss those that have quit blogging.

Someone said comments are the heartbeat of blogs. I love to read your comments and learn so much from every one of you. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.
