Entry Table

I'll show you this tableaux as it evolves.  I had to have a table to go with the new chairs in the entryway.  The fun part will be to style it.

As a country girl, I have never paid for anyone to mow my lawn.  I've been raking and raking leaves and picking up small limbs.  Probably have done 2/3rds of the yard clean up at the city house.

I had a guy come give me a bid today to get up all the rest as the beds have so many bricks and rocks and little fences to hold up the plants and flowers which catch all the leaves.  He blows them on tarps then hauls them onto his trailer.  I also asked how much he would charge to mow the little backyard and side yard and small front yard.

He wants $200.00 to get up the rest of the leaves and $85.00 per week to mow.  Am I cheap; is this a ridiculous amount or the going rate?

Rainstorms coming tonight with possible baseball sized hail.  I don't want to have to move all the boxes and bags of leaves and stuff for the booth to park in the garage, but I don't want my truck all dented up either. Guess I'll go start making a spot in the garage to park.

Lovely little entry table and chairs !
Depending on the size of the lawn and the going rate in your area, 85.00 sounds like a lot to me, more like 40.00.
Yes, get your truck out of harms way.

Your entry table and chairs look like they belong together. Such an inviting place to sit.
The mowing sounds a lot to me, but from the other side of the world I am clueless.

My friend Linda has half an acre mowed for $40/week. Of course, the fellow does such a good job he has the whole neighborhood under contract and mows a lot of acreage in an afternoon.

I spend 200. a month for basic care. Mow my tiny grass area, bacic trimming when needed and raking up.
But I do not have as many leaves as you do. I get about 1 to 2 hours, every other week.

cheers, parsnip

so since I just started reading here I gather that you moved from the city to the country and now have/are moving back in town? and yes, I think $85 to mow a little city yard is too much.

Jo, that was exactly what I was thinking. I called him last night and told him no thank you.

I thought they went together well too Child. I need to find a teenager to mow somehow.

I thought it was too high Joanne. You could use a riding mower on the front lawn, but not on the side and back, plus I don't want him mowing the sprinkler system down.

I'd be willing to pay that, but not over $300 a month for mowing. I'd rather hire a goat.

Lived in the country for over 30 years and have a city house I just got in the fall. They all spray their yards green and they look like the greens at the golf course. I've never done a thing to our yard at the farm; we just use a riding mower. It just seems outrageous to spend more than $30. a week to have the lawn mowed, but maybe it's not reality. And, it's a small lot, that's what slays me. Will probably try the push mower for a while myself until I can find a teen to do it. I don't even know where all the water spigots are yet and have to finish getting leaves up. We go back and forth from farm to city.

We do everything ourselves also..

Looks like the going rate..the only thing we don't do anymore..Jacques doesn't plow the driveway..he does all the walkways etc..
we are expectin a BLIZZARD,so I am grateful for someone to do the driveway.
Eventually I would like to pay our Littles to help in Spring and Fall w/ the gardens..
hope they feel like it..
love that fabric..so you..
and the furniture of course..cannot wait to see what you do:)

Blizzard go away as it's March, though we've had deep snow even in March here. Just ready to get in the garden.

Oh Pat, I love it too. The demilune table has a coat of red paint underneath the white so it matches the red birds. Just had to have it.
