Falling

Try as I might to get rid of stuff, sometimes I come across something I just have to have.  With flowers winding down and leaves starting to fall, I thought this little bike with basket would be cute by the porch this Christmas.  I decided I'd put little wrapped Christmas packages in the basket to display with my old sled and might just fill the basket with red apples.  So many cute things to do with it.  Well, at least that's how I convinced myself I needed it.

What a Great Find! I am glad you didn't pass it up because I know that you really need it! So many possibilities for future decorating. ENJOY.

It is super cute. And sometimes things DO just speak to our hearts. I try and listen to them.

I thought about it for two weeks and it was still there, so I figured it was meant to be.

Child, I thought it was cute too. Wish I could see the little one whom pedaled around on it.

Oh Donna, you are right, it is adding to much to the stuff you are trying to get rid of. So to ease your burden please send it to me. I will help you out.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeese !

cheers, parsnip

Don't remember ever seeing a rear basket. I think it had to have training wheels; no child could ride that bike pedaling the front wheel! Do you have any idea when it was made? I'd guess just post war, when manufacturing was figuring out how to pour consumer goods back into America.

Of course it is adorable!

I'll save it for you Gayle.

You are much smarter than I am Joanne so I'm betting you are right.

And I just love adorable things.

It is a pretty cool piece.

My quirky self will probably climb a tree out back and put it in the tree. If I can get a leg up. Most of the time I just totter around in the garden and fall. My legs always go up over my head. I am sure the neighbors are all saying, my god she's drunk at 11 in the morning. Maybe I'll have to have a neighbor kid do it for me.

I'm like that too trying to find another use for something that should be thrown out! I think the new use for your bike is a great idea! Sarah x

I'm attracted to all things antique. Thought of a flag in the back.

donna baker said...

Would be fun to see a picture of the little one riding it. I can picture them standing up on the pedals.

donna baker said...

You too Ry. Glad to hear from you.

I see all kinds of old riding toys, but I choke at the price on most of them. I have a super old bike tangled up in the barbed wire fence at the farm.

I must admit I rather like it myself Donna - I agree it would be lovely at Christmas but then I would have to think of somewhere to put it for the other 50 weeks of the year.

donna baker said...

It will probably sit in the flower bed as decoration until next spring.

So cute! I have been away..not much evidence f fall here as there usually is this time of year.
I am like you...don't need a thing and then my heart betrays me:)

Glad you're back Sandra. I thought it was pretty cute too.

donna baker said...

That's kind of what I thought too Jo. As I said, I might even put it up on a tree.

So much character! Love the little basket.

I think it came on the bike too. Wasn't added later. As you, I have a thing for old stuff.

We've been trying to downsize now for several years. It's a struggle maybe garden decorations is a better plan...:)

donna baker said...

It is the pits. I took a load of stuff to Goodwill last week because I didn't want to mess with pricing for my booth.

That bike is cute now and it's going to be darling at Christmas.

donna baker said...

I like it too Sandra.

Curtains in My Tree said...

I've seen even cuter ones, but always choked on the prices and this time I decided not to wait or it would be gone.
