Rain, rain go away!

Its been raining cats and dogs. I planted my vegetable garden last week and I'll bet I'm going to have to replant. Oh woe is me... Notice my husband is putting up fencing around the garden this year to keep out the deer.
This little end plot is all cool season crops; I got them in before the rains came. Onion, spinach, leeks, Swiss chard and turnip greens are doing well, as is asparagus.

Oh my poor corn....

Well, the rain did bring out this little guy. He's about 2 1/2 - 3" long and is swimming around in a puddle in my driveway. Very cute! The pictures are reversed but you get the idea.

Good grief hon, are the deer wearing skis? Me, I'm raising a bumper crop of mosquitoes with all the rain! That turtle is the cutest.

I don't know what to say. Bless your heart. And, please, Bless the turtle's heart!

Hey girl,
I live here in NYC. My backyard is no bigger than a postage stamp. I sure could use some of your sprawling landscape!!! And what is that tiny little critter you're holding in your hand at the top of your side bar???
PS
I'm packing my bags and headin' out your way.

An itty bitty kitty Auntie. I do love them all, but have been growing a bumper crop of those for 2 years now. I posted about the barn cats some time ago. I've been getting the spayed and neutered 2 and 3 at a time but can't keep up with them. So, I keep trying, and feeding them.

I'm so glad I found your blog! Fellow gardeners, unite! If you could send some of your abundant rainfall up north, that would be great.

I can usually I.D turtles quite easily, but this one's giving me trouble. I *think* this turtle might be a chicken turtle, or an Illinois mud. It's definitely not a cooter, slider, map, musk, snapper, or anything like those. Either way, both the chicken and the Illinois mud turtles are protected and rare in the wild. Consider yourself lucky!

What a cute visitor to your vegetable garden. Hope the rain has stopped, it's supposed to start again today in my area--I so hope not. Happy Friday, T
