My friend ( Ms. Mary Kay) pointed out that I hadn't posted lately. So, here's a twofer.
When I want my kids to come home, I have to bribe them. "It's too far," or "I have to work/study", and the grand kids are a handful and have stuff to do", though they love coming to the farm. Valid reasons all, nevertheless, bribery sometimes does the trick. In my middle child's case, a Granny Smith apple pie works some of the time. When my sister comes, she pre orders a tart cherry pie.
My father always had to have an extra sharp cheddar cheese melted on top of his slice. I don't know where this started, buy I did see David Letterman one night talking about his favorite apple pie with cheddar on top, so I guess we are not the only ones. It really is good.

Oooh Donna your pie looks so delicious !
I've seen apple pie served with cheese on top, but have never tried it myself, a dollop of fresh cream or ice cream is the way I eat mine :)

Such a temptress! I like fresh apple slices along side a hunk of cheddar - crunch, crumph. This is worth a try... but a little scary when you like your pie already just so !
That looks so yummy Donna and I never would have thought of cheese !
The little cardinal on the pie is a nice touch.
You were asking about mini horses, I'll send you an email. I think you might need to keep it away from Gracie if you find one lol
Remember a number of years ago when I was the winner of your blog contest and the prize was a sweet necklace with a wee painting of a pair of red cowboy boots?
I wore that necklace today and received numerous compliments. I also thought about how lovely it is that we connected on the internet!
Thank you so much!
I love your plate and birdie too..:-)
Yummmm!!! I haven't had homemade apple pie in years!
Although … I've never had it with cheddar! I will take your word for
it though and next time I have the opportunity I will have to try it!
Can you believe November is half over?! Anyhow, hope you are enjoying the fall!
Cindy, I totally forgot! Now, I'm sure of it. I do have Alzheimer's. Thanks for reminding me and I too am glad we found each other in outer space. I still want to meet at the Cherry St. coffee shop. I didn't get to go to Tulsa much this summer and fall is even worse, because my husband is gone so much and I have to be here for the animals. You still working?
Thank you Monique.
Do try it Lucinda. You can always scrape it off if you don't like it. No I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving. I have been so busy it has gotten past me. I haven't even had time to read my friends' posts lately, nor post much. Hope you are enjoying your fall too? Any travel plans coming up? Happiest Thanksgiving to you.
Now I'm worried Willow. Do you think Gracie would hurt it. She seems to keep from stepping on the chickens, though I did see her chasing the peacock once.
Jo, I always think of your grandmother's bread and drool.
Gesbi, I wonder if it would work on a french tarte tatin? I hope that was the right term. I'm getting French lessons for Christmas.
I'm not a big pie-eater, but anything with melted cheddar is good by me.
Do tell Amanda. What would your last meal consist of?
Homemade apple pie would work for me! And I'd love to try it with cheddar :)
My downfall is cake (with ice cream, of course) but I might have to try that pie with cheddar. It looks beyond decadent! Love the bird too!
Ok, just saw that Pecan Pie over there on your side bar! That's probably my favorite pie!
Unfortunately, Kirsten, if it is sweet, I'll put it in my mouth.
Mmmmmm, the pie looks divine...
Love your header!!!
Yummmm! Looks delicious! My daddy always loved cheddar cheese on his apple pie!
Donna, I just wanted to stop by and wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with blessings! Hugs. Dixie
Just had to come by to wish you a very merry thanksgiving! Hope it's a beautiful weekend with family!
Xoxo
Dixie and Kirsten, hope yours was the happiest.
Maybe that's how I can get my youngest son to visit me once in a while... and he has no good excuse as he is only 20 minutes away.
