I've had this tableau tucked in a corner for several years. So, I got it out, cleaned it up, added a few more things and Voila. I consider myself something of a naturalist; look and find all sorts of things on the farm and read about them. My sister calls me Mother Earth.
Had trouble photographing this guy, but the red changes colors from different angles.
Isn't he a beaut? Would have loved to see his wings extended, but this is the way I found him.
Screech Owl skull with his right ocular bone nearby. They are really tiny under all those feathers. The sound they make is like a woman screaming.
Some type of shorebird or tern.
This is a baby snake skeleton which was nearly impossible to photograph.
So this is where it ended up; crowns my new ikea medical cabinet.
Now all I need to do is fill the cabinet.

I am loving that cloche filled with the wonder of nature! Such great little treasures, just the sort of thing I would gather together as well. Where on earth did you find such an enormous beetle? I have a collection of bugs, but I had to buy them all boxed up.
Rachel, it will probably be a hodgepodge of old collections. The cabinet is a reproduction of a medical cabinet though.

I'm a magpie Jeri. I find treasures and stick them back for another day. Before I know it, well, you wouldn't believe the things I find. The rhinoceros beetle was in a wagon under a security light. Probably flew there one night, dived into the wagon too hard and lay there for some time before I found it. It is the second one I have ever found. The first one I had to pry out of a ducks beak while chasing it around. The duck couldn't swallow it anyway. Hah!
Way cool Donna, not sure which was more intriguing to me - the owl skull, the snake vertebra or the scarab - can't imagine how that would have looked in flight!
Yes Amanda, it would have taken some big wings to fly that beetle. I did see a picture of the wings outspread. Pretty awesome.
Wow - Donna - to think that you had all those found objects and then such a lovely way of displaying them as well. The Hummingbird nest is wonderful. Hope someday I find one of those. Have a great day and thanks for sharing.

Love that Medical Cabinet - one more thing to put on my list for my husband to bring back from his next business trip to Dallas. Probably won't have anything as interesting as your Nature Work to put on top.
