Someone asked me how my antique booth at the mall looks, and I said, like a turd. It is so small that to keep it looking like there is any order at all is nearly impossible. I've covered the walls and every square inch. I do love the booths with just a few pieces in them, but my theory is, I don't want this dragged out and have to keep paying rent. If you remember, I sold most of my large pieces of furniture and displays before Christmas. What is left is mostly smalls and some mid-sized pieces.
Anyway, I found these two chairs in another booth. I'm not sure if I've made money yet because try as I might, things keep jumping out at me, i.e. these chairs. They were covered in a lime green ikat which doesn't go in the city house. I found this birdie upholstery and voila. I am a bird nut. Okay, an animal nut.
What do you think? Swedish or French? They are to go in my entryway with a hall table I am using for display in my booth. The table, a recent purchase, was the first thing someone wanted to buy at my booth. I said no, it was for display only. Whatever.

Lovely chairs and I adore the bird print but not my style. Maybe French ?
But what do I know.
I hope you start selling your "stuff" soon.
cheers, parsnip
Did you cover them yourself - the fabric is gorgeous - definitely a French look.
Yes, got a staple gun and went to town on them. Glad to know Elaine. I wondered.
Thank you Parsnip. I've never seen so much stuff. I climbed the barn stairs today to look what was up there. Ugg. Mud daubers nests on everything. Going to have to clean that stuff up to sell it. Not feelin' it.
LOVE those chairs. But I am bird/animal obsessed. And yes, I would think French too.
French, smench, I know nothing, except I do like the fabric.
I love looking at your birds Child. French it is.
Thank you Joanne. Me too.
Donna - wherever those chairs come from they are absolutely divine - I could not have resisted them either.
Oh Donna .... I LOVE your chairs .... they would go really well in my house haha !!!!!! A good buy methinks.
Oh, and I was so peased to read that your tests were fine ..... I won't say ' I told you so ' !!!!!!! XXXX
Thank you Pat. I decided even if I didn't have a place for them, I would make a place.
Thank you Jacqueline. It is a relief. Not ready to go yet.
Donna, So good to read the heart tests came back okay, somehow, I knew they would! I think the chairs look French.. and they suit the bird print wonderfully; you bird nut, me too.
Thank you Jeri. Wait till I show my new sheer panels of curtains in my bedroom. You will really think I'm nuts.
Donna, these are amazing chairs - I've never seen any with high backs like that, either Swedish Gustavian or French. They are quite lovely and you made them even moreso by recovering the seats in that beautiful fabric.
If you don't mind I can send your photo to my friend who deals in Swedish and French antiques - I think he could probably identify for you. Let me know.
Mary -
Don't mind Mary. They do have high backs and are very comfortable.
Donna, my expert on Swedish furniture says they are not Swedish due to the cane which they didn't use. He loves your fabric, is not familiar with it. Said you found a fabulous pair of chairs which are most likely French.
Mary -
Thank you Mary. Nice to know. I really didn't need them, and thought if they were still there after the weekend, I'd just have to find a place for them. ;)
