Told You

Birds, birds and more birds. This decor won't appear in the latest issues of House and Garden or Architectural Digest, but it's my bedroom and I can do what I want.  I had the old bird prints at the farm and brought them to the city.  Then, I found these sheer curtains at Pier 1.

I won't be decorating with anymore bird designs, well, maybe wallpaper in the powder room, okay, no I probably won't, but I just love it in my bedroom.  It is beautiful to me and makes me happy.

I'm still deciding what stays or goes.  Most decisions aren't that hard, but some pieces are irreplaceable and I'm having a hard time deciding.  They are ones I probably won't find again at a price I can afford (or will pay for) and/or just don't fit anymore.  I don't want to have to keep my booth open for too long.  We'll see.

Donna, although my retirement looms closer by the hour, I did work this weekend, and so missed seeing until now your showing us newcomers your first post. I now cannot quite remember which of your comments on which blog site encourage me to connect with you.

I think that if I'd seen that first post of yours, I would have left a comment, and am so glad that passing time offered other gateways.

Your window view with those sheer bird curtains framing the view is really lovely. Your artist's eye is true.

It's been a very long time now since I moved into my current matchbox apartment, but my advice to anyone who's moved house would be to hold off on lots of decorating concepts until you travel through a few seasons with the changing light that affects every color, every shadow. Well, Donna, you are an artist, and know what I am getting at.

Happy Spring! xo

I love birds - and would also love those curtains.
I wouldn't rush to decide what stays and what goes. Any piece you are not sure of can wait. You can change your mind and move things out later, but it is much harder to replace them (if it is even possible).

I could live with those curtains for a long time.

Deciding what to keep and what to part with is one of the hartdest jobs when moving.
I love that bird print and would happily have it in every room.

I too like the curtains and if I used curtains I would have those. I prefer my windows unobstructed though we do have miniblinds on some of them.

It's pretty amazing how well the colors match between the curtains, the framed prints and the lamp. I think I see a little birdie that I know! I think it looks wonderful.

Frances, I can never remember where I find others' blogs from, just glad I do. Since I have the option of leaving pieces at the farm it helps, but I don't want to wait until I have no recourse. I'm scared of some of those sites like Craig's List etc.

The pieces I am wondering about are all antiques which is the reason I couldn't find them again and the price would be higher too on some of the pieces.

They'll have to be in tatters Joanne before I replace them. As I said once, I've lived without a curtain at the farm for more than 30 years so it is strange to have them, but I do like these and have to think about not scarring the neighbors walking around naked at night.

I was so happy to see them in a catalog I received Pat. The only thing is that it has slightly changed the color or light in the room, but it's okay.

Me too Ellen. Would rather not have them, but am thinking of the neighbors at night.

I see your avatar Monique. Carol did do a good job. Yes, I love them.

Yes, my dear Esther. I just had all the bird stuff from the other houses and put it all in one place. But, then again, I do love birds.

I do agree that the bird patters are joyful and really if you like them that is all that matters. It is refreshing to see different fabrics from the mainstream sameness.
Enjoy your week

Your curtains look lovely Donna ...... and so nice to wake up to. Rooms in magazines aren't true to life and those magazines are only for getting ideas from !! It seems to me that many homes look the same and have no personality at all. I love rooms that have thought put into them and the owners personality ..... I just know that your home is eclectic and show's ' you ' in it, which is perfect !! XXXX

Helen so nice to hear from you. Am I missing your posts are have you not been posting?

You are right Jacqueline. I wouldn't be happy waking to bright jewel tone colors or darkness. Have to have light always. Yes, it is definitely me. I'm a nester and have to decorate just so. I like to look in all the magazines and say I want this or that, but would never pay $12,000 for a chair or table. What I don't like is having to shop in furniture stores. I don't know why. Don't like to shop for cars either. Quirks of mine.

Thank you Sandra. I am an animal lover and birds and nests are a favorite theme.

Yes, I was tickled to find them and at Pier 1 no less. Don't know if they have that store in the UK, but it is fairly inexpensive.
