A Little Help From My Friends

Not such a clear pic from my iPhone, but thought this little dead moth worthy of a photo.  I think it was a female from its small antennae.  If you look on its back there is a beautiful rendition of an orchid, perhaps an iris...

BTW ~ while searching high and low for simple instructions to add a watermark to some of my art and photos (I told you I saw some of my art on Instagram) and to make it more difficult, it is a different process on the Mac than Windows. Anyway, I found a disturbing little fact I didn't know.  Where's Picasa?  Google did away with it.  I'm usually the last to know, but was unnerved by this.  Supposedly, there was a way to watermark your photos there.  And, I'm worried about losing some of my favorite photos.

Anyone know about Picasa vs. Google photo? Can you watermark art/photos on Google Photo?

I didn't realise Picasa had gone. Since i bought my new computer about a year ago I haven't stored anything in Picasa, so am no longer interested in it - that is probably why I didn't know it was no more.

Log in to Google Photos, your albums should still be there.
Such a pretty little moth, we seem to have an abundance of moths this year.

I thought pat, that it stored all photos you used in your blog, but I can't guarantee that.

donna baker said...

Jo, does it include all the photos that were in Picasa? It was a pretty moth and I hope it laid some eggs before it died.

Going now and thank you Jo.

I cannot retrieve my photos from Picasa..I did get a warning they were closing..great tip about Google Photos..I may have known that at one point LOL...
Watermark..can't you do it w/ PicMonkey?

It works..thanks everyone who suggested it.

I'll try. They are telling me to join Google+ and I don't know what that will do. I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to changing anything on this Mac. I looked at PicMonkey, but my back is out and it was confusing or else it did not compute in my brain. I'll go back and try again.

Picmonkey? Aye yay yay. I'll go back.

I'm not a fan of Google + I would stay away from that....
Did you find your BLOG photos ?

That is strange. It is gone on my blogger. Everything about blogger scares me and it is worse when they change things. This was a beautiful moth, about an inch width and i 1/2 inch long. I guess it was camouflaged for flowers.

Thank you so for the info Jo. I read the link and of course I am frightened to death to do anything that might cause things to disappear. When I choose the new post pencil I can push the picture icon and the googlephotos choice comes up. I haven't really gone into it much yet, but I do hope they are all there.

And, what the heck is Google+?

Upload your photo to Picmonkey. You can watermark, (and other stuff), for free. Super easy to use.

Good luck. I don't play Picasa and am clueless about watermarking. When you find out a tuition post would be appreciated.

Another vote here for PicMonkey. I've used it for four or five years.

Donna, Do you have a Corel or Adobe Photoshop program? These are what I use to mark my name and date on my pictures. It's easy that way. If you have either of these programs, let me know and I will walk you through it.

Dear Donna and all prior commenters, thank you all so much for this friendly, generous and informative forum. I've learned a lot!

The tiny moth is indeed a beauty. xo

I don't know how to watermark but Picasa is still there.

donna baker said...

Where did you find it Ellen?

donna baker said...

Thank you Frances. I hope to publish the instruction soon. I've been flat on my back for four days with a herniated disc that showed up unexpectedly and I'm so behind, it will be awhile before I have time to search out anything.

donna baker said...

I don't know Jeri. I have a Mac and am used to windows, so I'll have to look. Disc in my back has been acting up for four days and I've barely touched the computer. I'll look soon when I catch up on all the things I didn't get to this week. Thank you so for your offer.

hmmm. I went back to Safari (I use Chrome) and clicked on the link in my bookmarks for Picassa and it took me to get.google.com and my photo archive where blog photos are stored. I guess you have to have a google account now which is no big deal. you can also access the photos by clicking on the insert image icon on the blog editor then select 'from google album archive' but that will let you put them in a blog post so I guess you need a google account to get to the archive so you can import photos.

It's always something Ellen. I don't like learning new things on the computer since I haven't learned the old things yet. Thank you for the info.

Not a fan of Google + either.

Dear Donna, I hope that your back is improving. Love your reply to Ellen, I'm in the same camp of not yet having learnt the old things. My computer seems to rearrange things of its own accord, the list of followers has disappeared from my sidebar and other annoyances without a by your leave. I'm just not made for the 21st century!

donna baker said...

Rosemary, thank you. You are so sweet. It is; I fell in the garden last week and I guess that is what precipitated the back. I already have a disc problem, but this time it wouldn't go away. My leg was wonky walking and I realized they were connected. I'm being more careful now. I tried to get help from my sister with the watermark this weekend, and she couldn't figure it all out and she is my go to computer problem solver. I can only spend so many hours on the computer, then I want to throw it in the lake.

Thank you dear Monique.

Sorry she didn't survive. She was a beautiful little thing.

I like the colors of your moth – early autumn colors. My daughter showed me an easy way to mark my photos. I click on the photo then click on “paint” – once it opens in paint I chose the color, then go to the letter and then write my blog name. First I block the numbers part on the keyboard, then while I click on Alternate, I type the numbers 0169 and the little copyright symbols appears, then I type the name of my blog. Voila.

donna baker said...

Thank you Vagabonde. I will give it a try.

Sorry I'm not help at all on this one. Good luck....

Still struggling, er, trying Sandra.

Dear Donna this is a great photo of your moth. I didn't realize Picassa was gone. Now I am wondering if mine is on Google? ? At least when we blog together we gather valuable info. Glad for all the help from the replies. Take care friend and have a great day. Hugs!
