Older. Wiser? This is a favorite song from one of my all time favorite movies - Harold and Maude. It still makes me laugh. Long ago and far away.
And to make you laugh, I'm going to learn to play it on my ukulele. Sunday and piddling around. I should play it outside to make my neighbors laugh too.

I would love to hear you practicing your ukulele, my high school neighbor practices his flute, and oftentimes plays Green sleeves, it echoes in the woods :)

A friend I met through the internet about 16 yrs ago..who lives in the states'and takes ukelele lessons and she has sent me videos of her playing..so upbeat uplifting and adorable..we met in person too..many many years ago..and she sings while playing in a few pieces..
Oh, I hope yours is wonderful. It has been so long, I'm going to have to practice all over again.
I can't imagine just playing and not singing along. I started it to make some more synapses, but it is fun. The grandkids love it. I wish I could take classes, but I think I already learned bad habits, like the piano. It would be cute to get your littles playing.

Ahh Donna, this is an interesting development. I cannot play any stringed instrument, but my sweet brother is quite a good guitarist, and plays several other stringed instruments, too. Ukelele music is happy music...to my ears. Everything associated with ukelele music is good.
Play on! And as Michelle has already suggested, when you are ready, it would be grand to see and hear a little video. Maybe from the porch? Morning or early evening. xo

Sweet Frances, see reply to Michelle above. Like I said, I'm going to have to find the music on youtube and write out the chords etc. And, I have to re-learn it all since it has been so long. So, don't hold your breath, plus, I am camera shy as I have never taken a good picture in my life. But, stay tuned...
I can't remember when I discovered Harold and Maude, but I'd guess it was in the 80s, after the advent of the VCR. The Cat Stevens soundtrack always moved me greatly. How cool that you're to pick it up again on the ukulele!

Thank you Child. You too can learn to play the ukulele on youtube. Just takes a little practice and most of the songs are on there too, but I have to write them down so I can have the music.

It is, but I'll tell you a secret. It makes the tips of your fingers sore from holding down the strings.
Over here in North Yorkshire the ukulele is very popular and my friend W plays in three different ukulele bands. Many of our schools also have childrens' groups which seem to have taken over from the recorder.
I love that Pat. We must try new things to get the brain pathways moving.

Ukelele, Of course! Hearing Cat S. played on a uke should be very interesting and unique. I'm so untalented in the music dept. I have 3 instruments and play them very badly. Now, when you learn the song, you must record it and post it.
Me too, though I haven't heard anything in a long time. Hope your's is good too.
Believe it or not, I have to learn the chords again as it has been so long since I played it. Since the grands like it so much, I thought I'd give it a go again. Mainly, they just want to take it and play with it.
