Why do I try? I've spent the morning trying to figure out how to do different things on the computer. Maddening. Nothing has worked though I have googled, youtubed and bloggered. I am about to pull my hair out. That's not funny. Time wasted, FRUSTRATED and, I'll have to fiddle around more later as I'm done (or not done) after this post until I can get my space pleasing to my eye again. It has been a very long time since I last changed anything.
Nevertheless, I am reading this book. I'll not tell you about it till I finish.

Yes Donna, I know just how frustrating it can be - I have times like that too. But I must say I adore those dewy cobwebs on that header.
Pat, I saw it on an early summer morning, lit from behind with the rising sun reflected on the lake. You might just have to look at my blog as is for quite some time to come;)
Donna, your cobweb photo is a beauty. What delicacy, what perfect lighting.
I am too much of a lazy bones to try to alter the look of my blog page. I do think about doing it...but just don't take action.
The colors in your "bookshelves" give your page an autumnal look...or do to my eyes. I think I remember seeing a review for Miss Jane in the Times, and am interested to hear what you think of the book. I do like the cover design.
Tomorrow I plan to get over to my fabulous library to pick up a book I've researved, called Peacock and Vine, by A.S. Byatt. It is about William Morris and Fortuny.
Interesting peacock coincidence!
I've been doing a bit of watercolor painting, while taking advantage of slightly cooler weather to get the knitting needles activated.
I'll be attending an Apple workshop on iPhones this Saturday. I think it will be interesting...and it's free.
xo
You are a busy bee Frances. The Byatt book sounds interesting. Take my advice and don't start messing around with the blog. I wish I hadn't. Thought I just hadn't done it in years and it edited my photos which I couldn't undo and on and on.... Though I just recently got an iPhone 6s and have been using it for all my photos, I can't get it to work like my camera. I hear the 7 is nigh and has a much better camera. That class will be interesting. Have a great weekend.
I think your new digs are perfectly smashing!! (Which, by mere chance, is what I contemplate about four minutes into any change to my blog or mail or font).
Haven't read this book, though I've been a Janeophile since I was about ten. And I don't have much truck with all the offshoots and pastiches and parodies and downright murderations of her leave-'em-alone-characters and the genre itself.
The ONE modern anything I've ever read which really ran true to the carrying on of any story was written in 1913 or so by Sybil G. Brinton. The title is Old Friends and New Fancies, and features a couple of characters from each of several of the books (didn't you always want to know what became of Miss Crawford?) and is quite plausible on all counts.
If you'd care to read it, this is a fairly modern paperback edition, and if it's hard to find, I'll shoot you off this one in the mail. It should be a fun read on several consecutive cool nights.

PS And you're so much easier to read now---I just had a birthday approaching the triple-digits, and any help appreciated.
I really like the spider web header you have added. Sorry about the frustration involved in making changes on your computer. I could never be a computer tech. -Jenn
Once I wanted to change things and was terrified to experiment on my own blog, so I went to the upper left column where it says "New Blog," and made up a new blog and just practiced. Love the new header.
Well Donna you've made a start - it is frustrating when we want a new look. But it is easier to read now so that's good. You will get it right with a bit of patience :). The main thing is to keep on keeping on, regardless.
I think that it looks brilliant Donna ....... I haven't changed mine for years !!!!
I love the dewey spiders web.I think that we are all pretty good doing a blog at all !!!! XXXX
Hah, Rachel. I have one approaching in December. Might as well be triple digits as it's going downhill fast.
Nor I, Jenn. Just not my cup of tea.
Thank you Joanne. That was a good idea to practice blog. I wish I hadn't started messing around and watermarking is not as easy as they say. I don't know if my previous pics will ever be the same.
I want your look Elaine. Yours is perfection to me.
Jacqueline, it has only taken me 8 years and I still don't know how to do things on blogger. Yours is smashing and I wouldn't change a thing.
I haven't changed mine sine I first created it. added a few things to the side bar but that's all.
You are smarter than me Ellen.
I love the magical cobweb!
I am too afraid to change anything?
There is a lovely girl.Life with Linda..she does work for bloggers..
Is it just the photo you want bigger?
Yes, I wanted it to go across the header, but I guess since I took it on my iPhone, I think it might not be able to. I tried to put watermarks on my art (someone used it on instagram) and a few other photos. It all went downhill from there.:( I am hopeless with tech. I still don't know how to use this Mac as I used Windows for years. I'm just going to have to work on it later when it isn't so stressful. I love that cobweb too. Wish that spider would come back.
I think it looks good! I also like your web photo!
Cobweb just needs to be centered a bit more.... I feel your pain. It's maddening trying to a new banner, I keep about 6 in my file for whenever I want a change. Have you tried to resize the cobweb pic? I usually try 120 dpi first and if that doesn't work, I keep changes sizes. I like the light background and the book border.
Did you feel the earthquake?
I'm an incompetent and daren't alter my blog format for fear of losing the lot! I would like to put all sidebar info at the bottom so that the photos can be viewed at a larger size. (Neither can I work the tv recorder; my mind is yet to evolve beyond the 19th century.)
A lovely book cover, I shall wait to have your comments on the contents.
Well thank you Michelle.
Huge Jeri. Lots of damage since it was only 50 miles away and shallow. I haven't seen any damage yet though at the city house. We are near the Arkansas River and the lake out back and supposedly more damage happens by bodies of water. I'll keep trying with the banner and watermarks, but I just hate tech stuff. If you noticed above in a comment, someone used my art on instagram and I want to watermark some of it.
Me too Rosemary. Incompetent is a good word. I'm halfway through the book and can't wait to tell you about it.
It's extremely frustrating. I'm trying to figure out something in Paint Shop and it's taking me forever.....
Enjoy your read.
I want someone to show me how and write it down step by step. That seems to be the only way I can make it work.
Oh Donna, I feel your frustration. Like other readers have said I have left mine unchanged for a long time and it will have to do.
Love your header too.
Have a great week
Helen xx
I am not touching it again. Thank you Helen and I hope your fall is a good one.
If you learn to use watermarks, please pass the info on to me. I need to put them on my work
I'll let you know Jeri. I think it is important for our art at least. I was shocked when I found two of my paintings on instagram. And, we did get some damage on our chimney. Let's hope the New Madrid fault doesn't happen in our lifetime. That is the first thing I thought about when it started shaking. Oh, do you have windows or a Mac?
I'm so Tech Challenged it is a Blessing I have The G-Kid Force to figure most of it out for me and train me on the Computer and my Smart Phone. Otherwise, I'd be joining you in fits of frustration! A Blog Change for me has just had to be put on hold, it looks good enough that it's not making me crazy and so it'll do. *winks*... Dawn... The Bohemian
My kids are 'too busy' to help me do anything. I still haven't figured out how to back up everything. And, I just learned yesterday, blogger no longer has Picassa. Where did all my pictures go? Aye yay yay.
