Autumn has come about a month late. Maybe a little more. Climate change deniers have an agenda; whether man-made or natural, it is here. It was in the fifties with a strong wind and misting rain. Good weather for a drive. I wish the photos were better and the color was more intense than my phone camera could take.
I have so many beautiful pics I don't want to bore you, so I am showing just a few.
This tree was stunning, just play like I cropped out the car roof.
We decided to drive by the Philbrook Museum, but low and behold, I could not get very good shots. This house was owned by the Phillips family, of Phillips Oil fame, and I'm told they only lived there about a year or so, then donated it to the city of Tulsa, which turned it into a museum. This house is two stories and goes on for blocks. I cannot imagine living in such a big house. It has stained glass windows and is really very pretty. It is on several acres, about twenty, and the grounds were gorgeous. Giant oaks and formal gardens.
There were many entrances, but we didn't get out to go inside. We'll save that for another day.
The fencing and gates around the property were pretty.
The best part though, was shopping at an outdoor mall with my daughter and granddaughter Isobel.
There are animated little displays around the mall, even a cute Santa cottage with dutch doors and Mr. And Mrs. Claus. We didn't go on Black Friday, but on Sunday and what luck - barely any shoppers there. I'd better get busy as I've only just started shopping for Christmas.

Tulsa really is a pretty city. It has a large river (Arkansas) running through it and the developers are starting to develop the river :(
I am surprised it's that far north from the parallel where I live.
Colored leaves are just beautiful. The best part of autumn I think.
She just got her new coat. She wants to go by her given name now, which is hard to remember to say since she's been Bella for so long. The trees just take your breath away.
Sweet Isobel is growing and it will be in the blink of an eye and she'll be all grown up. I have to get going on Christmas.
Your autumn is definitely late coming - our trees are almost bare of leaves now. Those red trees are stunning. I am not in the mood for Christmas shopping yet - although I don't really have much to do not having any children or grandchildren to buy presents for. Lovely pictures Donna.

The bright reds and yellows of the leaves are a sight to behold. We get a bit of that out here, too, fortunately.

My Bella is growing in leaps and bounds. Her father is tall and Bella is the tallest in her class. It is still pretty warm for this time of year and I still have some flowers, but oh the trees are stellar.
The leaves are every bit as beautiful as flowers. I often find them tucked along with four leaf clovers and flowers in books.
I have barely started either Michelle. This year, I told the kids they are just getting money, so I am shopping for the grandkids. It will make it much easier for me.
I do love the leaves Lon. Ask me in a couple of months when I start raking them up and it will be a different story. When the sun shines, the colors really pop.
I know it gets cold in SF, so I bet you do have colors in the fall. I can't see enough of them right now. We must have gotten just the right amount of light and rain this year for such colors.

It's good to see photos of the area where you live, now I can place you in your setting! Lovely autumn colour, here in Blighty we've moved into winter with heavy frost whitening the ground. December tomorrow, so I suppose it's timely.
My middle name is Isabella, after my grandmother. I've got some of her very pretty handkerchiefs embroidered with a 'B' because she used the shortened, 'Bella'.
gorgeous trees. we rarely get any color. I have two gingko trees that have only turned completely yellow like your first picture a couple of times since we have had this place, about 9 years. now with global warming I doubt they ever will again.
This year I have much less shopping to do as I told kids, they get money and littles get presents. Of course, they love their stockings, filled with small gifts. We got tangerines and nuts when I was a kid.
I find that as bloggers we always have much in common Rosemary. The colors are spectacular on a sunny day, but next week our winter is coming and everything should be frozen then. But, hark, the first seed catalogues have arrived though I haven't had time to look at them. Since at my age time flies, I expect spring will be here in no time. I still have bulbs to plant.
I'll trade the yellow leaves for your pecans. If they just didn't take so long to produce. Maybe I can get a few shots of leaves while the sun shines. They are luminescent.

I never think that my photographs of Autumn colour do it justice but yours do Donna ...... our garden looked lovely this morning .... there are still many golden leaves hanging on the trees and all was covered in frost .... it was -5c this morning !!! I should have taken a photograph !! XXXX

Oh please, bore me! I simply ADORE your lovely photos, and the ones of autumn show your lovely area. It's been warm here, too. Last week it was in the 70's F and we had record highs a couple of days. Tonight we had a hard freeze. Gotta LOVE this up and down weather (not)!

I just read that you live in (or near) Tulsa. I used to do all my Christmas shopping there when I lived in the Joplin area (Webb City to be exact). Now I live in Wichita, KS. on the confluence of both the Big and Little Arkansas. Guess I should have read a comment or two before I left mine.
Nice to see fall colors, they have diminished here in Iowa. I was just listening about your state on public radio yesterday, and how they had made 4 day weeks with some schools.They said there was need for teachers,and one lady had a good thing to say for the people and area that sounded fun. I have only been through a few times, but it sounded interesting and your bog offers a nice charm to explore more.
Fall sure took its time this year indeed. Sure has now taken seed indeed. Great shots.

Thank you Bluebird and Elizabeth. I used to know several flea market dealers from Joplin back in the day and they always had really different and unique antiques. I've also known several dealers from Wichita at the Tulsa flea market. It has been warm, but the gig is up. Next week the highs will be in the 20's. I'm never ready for it. Glad you came to visit.
Well, I'm glad you stopped by to visit. I lived in Waterloo for a year. I remember corn fields forever and playing in the tee pee stacks. Our teachers are wonderful, but Texas steals them all since they pay more and teachers get retirement benefits after only five years. Our state is in dire straights due to the collapse of oil prices and schools and social programs are struggling along with everything else it seems.
I haven't read the almanac, but I hope the late, warm fall doesn't portend a hard winter. Next week will get in the teens :( Glad you stopped by to visit.
I think the reds are maples, but I don't know my trees as well as I should. I do know I have two giant cottonwoods out back that I wish weren't there. So glad you came to visit.

I LOVE fall. We have trees like that second one in our yard...the leaves just keep hanging on while all the other trees are bare!

Love the architecture of the Philbrook Museum, it has a very Spanish look to it. We still have a few trees clothed in Autumn leaves, but most are barren and the grass has turned to brown. Autumn is too fleeting.

Stephanie, there is a pin oak tree next door and though they are shaped beautifully, it hold its leaves until spring buds make them fall off.

It came so late and overnight it turned so I know we've had a freeze. Supposed to get down to 19 this week and I've yet to plant my bulbs as I waited for the plants to die back. It is very pretty right now and everyone (but me) has their houses lit up.
