Daydreams

Found these little dolly ice skates to decorate for Christmas.  They had another pair a little bit larger, but I figured I didn't need two pairs.  Then again, when am I ever going to see them again?

It is a dreamy Saturday; a perfect day outside.  The little flock of sparrows born this spring in the birdhouses, are still together (isn't that something) and are feeding just out the window on the porch. They have made quite a mess with all the seed, but that is all right.
The geese offspring are still with their parents as are the duck siblings.  Who knew they would stay together so long?
They are all waiting for me to come feed them; they even come in the mornings when they see the shades rise.

I tend to live in the moment, not in the past, and yet, I love old things.  Go figure.

I remember when little things for dollies were so well done.

They are beautiful how could you resist them.

I try and live in the moment (and sometimes succeed). And appreciate the past. It is the foundation for the now. Sometimes well built, sometimes shaky, but a foundation just the same.

Aren't they cute Joanne?

I couldn't Elaine. They even look cute on my bookshelves of all things cream.

What a perfect picture, so soft and Victorian looking.
Second generation fowl: wondrous.

Donna, you are so right...those adorable skates are the start of a fabulous Christmas decoration.

I'm with you also on truly valuing the power of the moment we experience as we experience it.

Glad to hear that those birdie families seem to have weathered the quakes. xo

They are very friendly and used to me.

Yes, I am so surprised that they stay together this long. For wild birds, they are pretty used to me. Even the waterfowl. I just loved the little skates. Looked at them for a couple of weeks before I couldn't resist.

Well, okay Pat. I know right where I'm going to put them.

I am much the same. I am not one to reminisce, but I do love old things.

I live in the moment as well. and I like old things. I think it's because old things were actually made by people and not by a machine pooping out unending replicas of the same thing.

Sigh.

Yes, Ellen, things were made so much better in days past. It is all plastic now or faux. Even cars which used to be steel. I especially like the handmade things best.

Live in the moment, linger over sweet memories, even those not our own. Old well-loved objects have a life of their own, passed on to family or to strangers. I can make up whole days and lifetimes, merely from the holding or the having of a long-ago item.

rachel, still enjoying my note-box EVERY DAY!
