This preview is from the movie Ashes And Snow. Let me just say my head exploded. I ordered the dvd from Amazon. I have a list of other films to watch for these winter days and staying in.
I haven't watched them all so I will be trying to find places that show them.
Feel free to comment if you've seen them.

Sunshine
Usual Suspects
The Visitor
Cairo Time
Snow Flower And The Secret Fan

And, I am waiting to see the new film Silence. Love Japanese culture.

It looks graceful:) And I know how you feel about animals..has your name on it:)
I read Snow Flower and The Secret Fan..it was wonderful.
We saw Usual Suspects..I have to watch it again..Jacques remembers it perfectly..violent he said..which we have watched many..it was my brother's favorite movie at the time.
Saw The Visitor..I really like Richard Jenkins..
Hope you find some!
I seem to binge on movies when there is little else to do, and right now I'm waiting for nothing else to do. They sound so tempting.
Monique, you have seen more than I have methinks. I didn't know how to do Netflix or anything computer wise, so I am slowly going through lists I have kept.
If you haven't seen The Killing yet on Netflix, I couldn't quit watching it. I have much to do, but don't want to do it, so I am doing it a little at a time.
This is a great list. Binge watching is a favorite thing of mine on snow days.
Me too and the arctic freeze has snuck in this week.
I have never acquired the movie habit. Books for me - where I can stop, think about things, and go back if necessary. Have fun with your choices.
Haven't seen any, went to "Sing" with kids yesterday
Saw Nowhere in Africa and then read the book, so good.
Nirgendwo in Afrika (Nowhere in Africa) and Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire) are both extraordinary films.
The female lead in Nowhere also stars in another very watchable film set during WWII. It's called Aimee & Jaguar. I would recommend that one as well.
Wings stars Swiss actor Bruno Ganz, who I will forever have a crush on although he also plays a convincing Hitler in Untergang. That's a hard film to watch & slightly claustrophic-feeling, but, if you're up for it, a very good movie, indeed. Wings stars another perennial fave, Peter Falk. Did you know that the TV show 'Colombo' was beloved in Germany? Keep that in mind as you watch Wings of Desire.
I understand Child. Some are series.
Is Sing a movie?
Glad to hear it as it sounds so good.
Dear Bea, you are a font of information and I will watch them all. Homeland, one of my favorite shows, was set in Berlin last season. Last German film I saw was Run Lola Run. That isn't true as I just remembered a German woman directed or wrote Cherry Blossoms and I just loved that movie so much. I never did watch Columbo. I love foreign films.
Sorry I can't help with any of these. Keep us posted on how you like them.
Glad you are safe and I will Sandra.
Kirschblüten/Cherry Blossoms was directed by Doris Dörrie, one of my fave directors. The German actress (seen in flashback in Kabuki) stared in a detective/cop show in DE for some number of years. She's great!
-loved Lola Rennt. It really brought contemporary German slang/informal language to the fore.
I don't think I've seen any of these but I did read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan which I enjoyed a lot.
Some are so good Ellen, hopefully all.
The original version of Wings of Desire, with Bruno Ganz and Peter Falk, is one of my very favorite movies. The other on your list I have not seen.
xo
Glad to know it Frances. I am once again going through the many little slips of papers I have written on and kept for some reason. Songs, books, movies, Phi, sayings, etc. I have many more stuffed in books, but I can rarely find them.
I haven't heard of any of those movies. I am not a big movie person. However I go once in a while
We have snow today and it would be a good day to be at home baking and watching movies
Happy New Year
And to you also. Some are several years old so I'll have to search them out, though I am old fashioned enough to not want to have to watch them on a computer. Too cold here too.
I haven't seen any of them and I've seen a lot of films !!! .... although, I think I've seen Usual Suspects !!
A belated Happy New Year to you and yours Donna ..... hope that 2017 will be filled with everything that you wish for. Much love. XXXX
So sweet of you Jacqueline. I think of you and your son every New Year's Eve, celebrating. Hope your year will bring good health and fortune to you and yours. I so enjoy your posts I wish you had more time to post. Love seeing and hearing of the sights around your home.
I really enjoyed that video, thanks so much for posting it, it seemed so real yet like something one would see in their dreams.
And that was just a snippet Lon. Real performance art.
Donna, What a fantastic blue cup below!
I must be really out of it, I only recognize 2 of those movies on your list.I have a list of ten movies I will love forever and most of them are period pieces.... I must be stuck in another era.
This haunting film clip reminds me of Karen Joy Fowler's disturbing book, 'We are all Completely Beside Ourselves.'
My next film outing will be to see 'La la Land' for a bit of singing and dancing to get me through the winter!
I've been binge watching crime dramas and Marco Polo on Netflix. I have some old ones I like, but can't think of any right now.
Sounds good from the reviews.
