Things We Cannot See

Cue the harmonic music of the universe (at least what I expect it to sound like.) This beautiful crystal piece is citrine, a form of amethyst.  It is used for healing, feng shui and many other things.

Some of you will think I have gone over the edge.  I too used to not believe in anything that I considered a pseudoscience; things that could not be proven according to the standard of rigorous scientific testing.  Just say I'm a skeptic.  Curious, but still skeptical.

Enter my daughter and her sudden loss of vision.  We still don't know what caused it.  We have to wait to see if some terrible auto-immune disease rears its ugly head.  She finished her last dose of steroids yesterday.  Her little face blew up like a balloon, which she isn't happy about.  She still has some vision problems, but it is much improved.  As a mother, I have wanted to help her heal in every way, on every level possible.

Years ago, I had a dream of a young woman with eyes like turquoise neon beams.  She turned to me and told me to "follow the crystal line (or crystalline.")  I have thought of it over the years trying to decipher the meaning, going so far as to spend hours on anagrams to see what it could mean.  There were 200,001 different meanings and I wasn't going to spend anymore time trying to solve it.  But, I never forgot it.  Let me add here, that I have had prophetic dreams before that in fact, came true.  I have no control over it though; can't summon anything.  Just think I'm intuitive.

I have always loved rocks and crystals and fossils.  Never knew anything about them though.  Enter Nicolai Tesla and Edgar Cayce and thousands of years of crystal history and use.  Don't give up on me yet.  Think of cobalt 60 used in radiation for cancer (actually it is cobalt 59 that they've changed on an atomic level to make cobalt 60.)  Lithium is used in batteries.  Quartz, uranium and on and on. And yes, they do have vibrations.  Tesla himself talked of them and their vibrations, resonance on a molecular and atomic basis.  "Nothing exists in the universe that does not have harmonic vibration," Tesla wrote.  He believed magnetism one of the most important processes, even states the universe would not exist without it.  Enter hematite and magnetite, rocks from the earth.

Edgar Cayce, a physician and psychic, left over 14,000 readings and information on the power of crystals and stones.  He even used them in his practice for healing.  He believed his trances were from Atlanteans (yes, the lost continent of Atlantis) and the information he has provided was riveting.

I have been studying crystals and rocks; the effects and use of each one.  Unbelievable.  I have researched, sourced and purchased all that are anti-inflammatory, help the immune system, help with nerves and eyes and more.  I put them in a bag to go under my daughter's pillow and during the day, she wears others I bought as beaded bracelets.  Hey, it can't hurt, though some crystals are more powerful than others.  I asked her the other night if she was sleeping with her crystals and she said, "yes, I'm sleeping on that bag of rocks under my pillow." :)

Feng shui, Reiki, Ayurvedic medicine and thousands of years of history - who am I to scoff?

My daughter took a cake decorating class last week.  This giant three layer cake was certainly serendipitous.  Don't think it was a random vibration from the universe.

I totally agree with your thinking. There are so many things about the universe, and our existence, that we don't understand. I like to keep an open mind about all things. I have read more of Edgar Cayce's life/teachings than Tesla's, but both intrigue me greatly. Best wishes for you daughter's continued health and recovery.

I grew up in a house of crystals because my dad was rockhound and crystals his speciality. I spent many summer vacations squatting in creeks, looking for garnets. Best, best wishes to your daughter.

They are both very interesting men. We are doing everything prescribed and beyond. Hope it was just idiopathic and never returns. It was the worst of times.

That is really interesting Joanne. Bet you loved those times. Cacey said garnets and rubies were very important for their healing qualities. I'm thinking of packing up the grandkids and taking them to Arkansas to dig for diamonds. There are many different kinds of crystals in Arkansas and Missouri. Thank you and hope you are progressing each day.

There is too much that I don't know for me to discount/eliminate much.
Like Joanne my father was a rock hound. I spent far too many days camped beside slag heaps. Squatting in creeks (sapphire hunting) was much more better.
Love your daughter's totally unserendipitious cake.
And I hear her on the steroid blow-up. Sigh.
Healing wishes are flooding through cyber space for her.

Thank you Child. I've panned for gold in Colorado once, but would love to go looking for crystals.

there is more to existence than can be quantified by humans. and there are more ways of knowing than the five senses. maybe your dream woman was being literal.

A curious skeptic with an open mind. I really like that combination...:)

Oh Monique, you are so sweet to say that. I'll fix you a bag anytime. There are crystals for everything and every condition. Anxiety, confidence, health, altruism; every condition under the sun. I am having a harder time with the Akashic Record and past lives/reincarnation part, but find it very interesting. There are even crystals called record keepers.

I think we really know very little about the things we can't see. I don't know what she meant, but just maybe, the study and use of crystals is what she meant.

Very curious about the world around me. I used to read encyclopedias for fun as a child.

what has worked for centuries surely rates well with me. I like that specimen,I had a rather large collection , but the diminished with grandchildren and other children visiting.

I bought my little grandson a meteorite necklace for his birthday from Argentina and I'm going to have to stop myself from buying. I've been buying smaller specimens, but now want some large decorator pieces. I still can't afford some of them or I'm just too cheap.

Dear Donna, my thoughts and prayers continue for your dear daughter's return to good health - and if rocks and crystals help I say go for it. I did have my own set of 'healing' crystals close by when recovering from cancer in the 80's - then passed it along to another later - we both still live and breathe thankfully!

So sweet of you Mary and thank you. Who knows?

Right there with ya, Donna. I find crystals fascinating.

donna baker said...

I've looked at your books on the sidebar, so I suspect you've researched them too.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes. Power Stones is nonfiction.
The cake is gorgeous.
Enjoy the weekend.

I didn't know that Sandra. She was proud of that big cake. Hope your weekend is good too.

I have not been able to read blogs since January and am starting a bit tonight with your blog. I went back and read your past posts and was so upset about your daughter’s illness. I am pleased that she is slowly recovering and hope it will all go away. I have read that the two things worry people the most are losing their sight and getting Alzheimer. Indeed, they are both terrible. I read Jess Stearn’s Edgar Cayce: the Sleeping Prophet when it came out in 1967. That is one of the reasons I wanted to leave San Francisco, because Edgar said that there would be a huge earthquake around the turn of the century. Thankfully it has not happened, but who knows? Thanks for coming to my blog and writing comments – I appreciate it very much.

Thank you Vagabonde. I haven't heard from you in a long time. I'll be thinking of you. It was the worst of times, but we made it through. Just hope it doesn't return for it was horrible. Best wishes for you and your plight.

I have lost your blog ! and I miss it.
I think there are things we don't know. I wonder what rocks you have found and I hope they help your daughter.
I wear stones and gems for their healing as much as the beauty.
All my anti-immune problems are driving me crazy and lupus is waiting.
cheers, parsnip and thehamish

Guess my blog went out in the ether;) That has happened to me before too. I have to quit shopping on ebay. I have a book that tells about all of them, what they are used for and on and on. They are so beautiful and I am hopeful they might help. I would love to go to that show in Tucson and see them all. In Houston, they have a room at the Natural Science Museum with crystals that takes my breath away.

What turned out to be scary, was just a sprinkle here. Thank goodness. In fact, I need to water this evening. Hope your holiday is wondrous. I'm eating a frozen dinner.

Donna, after an extended absence, I have traveled back to blogland this Memorial Day afternoon to do some visiting. This post is fascinating. Maybe about 15 years ago, or less, through my employment I connected with a very interesting client who lived in California. We never met in person, but spoke via phone and notes frequently. She was a devotee of crystals, knew lots about them, and sent me a little package of various stones she had put together just for me. I recollect that some, if not all had also been allowed to be outdoors under certain moon phases to enhance their powers. I kept that package in my handbag for quite a few years until one day I realized that the contents had all become powder...or perhaps very fine crystals. The entire experience was quite up-lifting.

Continued best wishes and lots of love to you and yours. xo

That is interesting Frances. Wonder what they were as they are millions of years old. I have been riveted reading about them. I left them out under the full moon and during morning light and cleansed them. I fixed a bag for my daughter and one for my granddaughter to put under their pillows. I have started one for myself and have them next to my bed. Of course, I want all the museum pieces, but can't afford them. Those pieces are in the tens of thousands, but gorgeous. My list of ones I want is long. I would love to go on a dig. Hope you are enjoying the early summer. So glad to hear from you.
