New Recipes

Some more recipes.  I think this is the seventh posting.  I'll keep them coming.  I looked on the grocery shelf last week and they do still sell the dried beef in glass jars.  It looks just like jerky. I'd like to try this ham and bean soup.

I love seeing these old recipes. I saved my grandmother's cookbook and one that had belonged to her sister, as well. 'Such treasures.

My grandfather used to make a great dip with the dried beef. And I have a cauliflower soup--of all things--recipe that calls for it, as well, and is also good.

They make me hungry.

I love the old recipes Val. Glad you thought of getting them. I love cauliflower soup and with the old dried beef - that is the only other recipe I've seen that uses it. Guess it was a way to conserve meat back then. Just to get the flavor maybe.

Old recipes are precious. And were no doubt good for us as well as tasty.

Child, it sure wasn't the over processed food that we eat everyday. At least where I live. I need to cook more at home and not eat out so often.

The chicken chowder sounds fun. Corn chowder was the traditoional Christmas Eve dish in colonial times

I don't think I've ever had a chowder I didn't like.

I love to find handwritten recipes and in fact, when cleaning out my folders of loose recipes yesterday, I found my mother's 'Bread & Butter Pudding' recipe. Just seeing her handwriting brought a tear to my eye.
She was an amazing cook.

I have just a few of those Mary. The recipe sounds delicious too.

Lots of us appreciate hand written recipes from years gone by

I have an old recipe book with all hand written recipes I have a picture on my side bar of my blog

I know. They seem obsolete nowadays as the internet has so many. I like the old recipes.

Dear Donna just catching up with all your posts friend...the recipes look delicious. How fun to go over those old tried and true recipes. I have cookbooks from both of my grandmothers that mean so much. Plus when I got married many moons ago - my Mom made me a family one of all the favorites. I know you can find most anything now days on the internet but those handwritten cookbooks just can't be replaced. Sorry to read about your sister and all she went through. Hope you are recovering from your surgery also. I will be "looking up" for both of you. Hugs!

Oh Dear Deb, thank you so much. I have a few recipes in my mother's handwriting and one in grandma great's handwriting. Most of her recipes were of canning and even one for making lye soap.
