Snowy Morn

We only had a freeze a couple of nights ago.  Leaves and flowers are still on the trees and plants.  The early snow is unusual though not unheard of.  A little creature has been out ahead of me.  It climbed up (or down) the roof.  I need to go get feed for the water fowl, but at least all the bird feeders are full.  I have lots of nuts ready for the squirrels.  So, I guess I am ready for the snow.  The ground is still warm enough to melt it on the roadways, thank goodness.  In this part of the country, we can't drive on the snow as evidenced by all the wrecks.

Your picture makes our chilly wind seem nothing by comparison Donna.

we're going to have out first freeze before Thanksgiving! I don't remember that ever happening before.

Such a lovely and quiet photo today. Love the wee "footie" prints.
Today I turned on the heater for the first time to take the chill off the home. It was 39 when I looked this morning but the day will warm up nicely. This is Fall in Tucson.
Nice to see your blog pop up !

cheers, parsnip and badger

Starting a bit here, hope it melts fast, I haven't got all my leaves up yet

Wow. Snow already?! Everything looks so peaceful covered in a light layer of snow. :)

A little hopped or ran the length of the roof. Sweet of you to notice. We've had snow, but I was in the hospital. Now I need to be careful!

Love those tracks.
And, as we launch into the sweaty season, your snow is a glorious thing to gaze on.

Turned my heater on for a couple hours last night to take the chill off and then added a blanket to the bed. Our big story here is coyotes coming into neighborhoods now and jumping the walls looking for food as in small pets. We've encroached over and beyond their habitat. Many years ago when I first moved here in late 70's we would go snow skiing and water skiing in the same day. Now the lake has a bathtub ring around it and they have to artificially snow the mt most years. But 45 says no global warming.

Snow looks so beautiful but it can be difficult to get around, I'm so glad the snow didn't settle on the road his time. Despite protests fracking started in the Uk on 15th October, there have already been 27 micro seismic events , sadly just like your experience. Sarah x

Pat, OK is legend for its wind, but not today. We were in full autumn color mode.

It is truly a strange occurrence to see snow before the leaves have finished turning and falling. I still had roses and phlox and marigolds blooming.

Gayle, I bet you enjoyed that 39. I hope the footy prints was a squirrel and not those Norway rats I fought last year.

Oh haven't even started since they are still mostly in the trees. With our crazy weather in OK, there are sixties in the forecast this coming week.

Gawd!

Yes Bea. See above about our weather in OK. BTW, that was a mild word to describe that nut. She is so much worse than that. I don't do twitter but when did they decide to arbitrate the first amendment?

Oh Joanne, I think of you daily and hope things are improving. And, that your Thanksgiving will be full - both from food and good wishes. You have colder weather there and are a pro at driving in it.

The wind is gusting this afternoon making 33 degrees seem colder. I still read your blog Child, just can't comment yet. You wouldn't believe the hoops I have to jump through to reply. That captcha hates me.

It is crazy Suzan. At the farm, people try to kill the wildlife that is looking for food. I never did. They never got my weenies though. I would have hunted a coyote like a native had they done that. We lost many beloved fowl though.

Oh Sarah, I am so glad to hear about what has happened in the UK from fracking. It will be brutal there as your structures are so old. Hopefully, someone in power will speak up before that happens. Yes, we got a break this time. Our weather is going to get warm this week.

Tom, did you see Sarah's comment above? I have wondered about it.

Ooooh. I was being terribly crass, but her words re: California fires got me hot under the collar. (Note: others called her an a-hole, vile, etc. and were not penalized.)

I bet so Monique. Since you are used to snow, I'm sure you are prepared. It is more of a rarity here. I'll be baking some bread soon. My daughter just gave me a jar of raspberry hibiscus jam and I thought it would be good on the bread. I bought some dried cherries too and decided to try it with those and almonds. I'll let you know if it turns out.

Val said...

"Oh la la," as Monique said. The snow began here this week too.

Your bread and jam (and cherries and nuts) sound good, Donna.

What a contrast to the fires in Calafornia Donna ! I wonder what little creature left those footprints !!! XXXX

So glad to hear from you Val. Monique gave me a recipe for no knead bread that is so easy, I bake it all winter. I'm going to try the fruit and nut version for the holidays. Funny thing is, I love bread and I eat it all.

Hi Jackie, I think it was a squirrel. We have wildfires all over the country when there is drought. Those in California were terrible this time. We still have snow on the ground it has been so cold. I am afraid my lawn watering system might have frozen. I'll be nervous until spring.
